The SL-1200/1210 MK7 is basically what you’d hope for if you’ve spent time on older 1200s—same weight, same layout, same feel, but with a few subtle updates that don’t get in the way. The torque is a bit tighter, brake speed’s adjustable, and they’ve added reverse play if that’s your thing, but otherwise it just feels like jumping back on a deck you already know inside out.
What’s nice is that they didn’t mess with the core of it. The pitch is still smooth, the platter’s solid, and it holds time like a champ. The build feels a bit more modern but not plasticky or over-designed. It’s not trying to reinvent anything—it just brings the 1200s back with a few modern conveniences that actually make sense. If you’re already used to Technics, this just feels like slipping into something familiar, but with a slightly cleaner ride.
